Tugboat

The Tugboat in Rust is the largest controllable boat available to players. Designed to accommodate multiple occupants, it offers a single seat for the driver but allows other players to stand securely on the deck—something smaller vessels like the motor rowboat or the RHIB do not support. This spacious boat is ideal for team expeditions or transporting large groups.

Unique to the Tugboat is its building authorization feature, akin to a tool cupboard. Players can gain the ability to build and customize the boat's space by interacting with the steering wheel. The Tugboat features three doorways, which authorized users can equip with doors and locks for added security. Two doorways lead into the bridge, while the third grants access to the lower-level storage area where players can place essential items like bags, boxes, furnaces, lockers, and workbenches, turning the Tugboat into a floating base.

In the event the Tugboat's hitpoints reach zero, it will not instantly vanish. Instead, it gradually sinks to the ocean floor, where it remains for two hours before despawning. During this time, any installed doors will stay operational, although they can be destroyed to access any loot inside. To find a Tugboat, look for them at the harbors—two Tugboats spawn in each harbor, waiting for players to commandeer them for their maritime adventures in Rust.
