While modules can be repaired individually with a hammer, using the Modular Car Lift is more cost-effective and efficient. It is important to note that modules filled with items—like the liquid in a fluid tank, storage in a module, or parts in an engine—cannot be moved or removed. However, the lift does allow for the quick removal of all items.

In addition to its primary function of module manipulation, the Modular Car Lift also enables players to add or remove locks on the cockpit module and craft corresponding keys. When a module with a lock is removed from the chassis, the lock is subsequently removed as well. Another strategic use of the lift is in the removal of modules, which then allows players to research them for later crafting and placement on other vehicle chassis. Completely stripping a chassis of its modules through the lift provides an option to destroy the chassis, should a player choose to do so.

With the "Mixing Table Update", an important change was introduced—the lift now prevents vehicle decay when it is powered.
